Bonn-Rhein-Sieg Univ. of Applied Sciences has designed a new compliant two-finger gripper for the KUKA youBot based on FESTO's flexible bionic fingers. The mechanism replaces the two rigid metal fingers of the KUKA youBot and can be easily attached to the gripper. It is a pure mechanical design and does not require any extra actuation or power supply. The CAD models are available as open-source on youBot Store. Those youBot users who have access to a 3D printer can just download the drawings and print their own compliant two-finger gripper. The two fingers are not open-source and still need to be ordered from FESTO. For those who want to avoid the effort of manufacturing the gripper themselves can order the complete gripper from youBot Store starting in fall 2014.
