What if robots could detect failures by themselves and then ask humans for the exact help they need to fulfill their tasks? Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are teaching robots to politely reach out to humans for assistance.
When looking at the KUKA youBots assembling IKEA furniture autonomously, it is obvious that they are working within limited reach. But what is not as obvious, is what kind of help by humans is necessary to support the working process.
The solution is an inverse semantic algorithm to generate human-friendly requests for help.
