  • Plug the USB-memory-stick with the remastered operating system. If you have to create your own bootable USB stick, you can find the iso-image on the following page:

  • Turn on the power of the PC. Press the ON/OFF button for a few seconds and the power for the system will be switched on. Now press a second time on the ON/OFF button to turn on the PC.

For more information about turning on/off the youBot see " Turn on power".

  • If your system does not boot from the USB stick, check the BIOS settings.

- During boot up press the DEL key.
- Go to register "Boot" and check the entry "Boot Device Priority". The 1st boot device should be "USB Hotplug FD".
- Go back and check the entry "Hard Disk Drives". Here you have to configure your USB stick as the 1st Drive.
- Exit the BIOS configuration and save the changes.
Now you should be able to boot from the USB stick.

Installing remastered Ubuntu

Installing the remastered Ubuntu distribution is straight forward. It is the same like installing the standard version of Ubuntu. After booting from the USB stick and selecting "install" you will be guided step by step. Just follow the instructions.

The difference is that the remastered version consists of all the software which you need to control the youBot. Therefore the default user "youbot" and its home directory will be installed. If you install the operating system from the remastered image, this user will always be there. Still during the installation you will be asked for a username. You can give any name, but this will have no effect, because the user "youbot" will be installed instead automatically.

For more information about the software, installing from the scratch etc., see:
