Currently there are three remastered Ubuntu distributions available. Two of them,Version 0.3.0 that contains Ubuntu 10.04 with ROS electric and version 0.4.0 that contains Ubuntu 12.04 with ROS fuerte, are available for everyone from our website. Newest version (0.5.0) with Ubuntu 12.04 and ROS Hydro is available only for customers of youBot store. It is also shipped with every new youBot bought in youBot store. If you are interested in getting the newest version of Live-Stick, please contact us at hotline@youbot-store.com

All versions include all the drivers and applications for controlling the KUKA youBot. Beside these, it is equivalent to the standard distribution and can be used as a bootable live media or for installation. It can be used almost on any PC and is not limited to the onboard PC of the KUKA youBot.

Creating the Live media

Follow the download link below to get one of the iso images. Next step is to create bootable usb stick. If you are using Ubuntu you can do it for example with program Startup Disc Creator.

Installing the Ubuntu operating system from the youBot Live-USB

NOTE: Before you start the installation, make a backup of your hard disk. You should also be familiar with making partitions, before you make any changes.

Depend on hardware you use you may need to enable booting from usb or press some key to enter boot menu.

In the boot menu you have to select usb as a booting device and install operating system. The installation steps are the standard installation routine of Ubuntu as described in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GraphicalInstall

NOTE: There is just one exception compared to the standard installation. If the “Who are you?” window appears, you have to set a name, but this will have no effect to your system. After the installation there will always be the user "youbot" with password "youbot". You can only change the name of your PC.
