Title: Developing a remote lab using the youBot platform

University: Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Robot Autonomy and Interactive Learning lab

Abstract: The Robot Autonomy and Interactive Learning lab at Worcester Polytechnic Institute is in the process of developing a remote lab using the youBot platform. This project aims to create a web-based interface that enables the general public to control the robot in the real world. A one-arm configuration is being used to allow the youBot to manipulate objects in the room. The system uses overhead cameras for localization and navigation within the lab itself.  Our code base builds upon the Robot Operating System (ROS); implementations of manipulation and vision stacks for the youBot will be released in open source as they are completed. The project is ongoing, and will continue to provide updates on its progress towards the creation of a publicly accessible remote lab.
